Habitat for Humanity welcomes new directors to its board

habitat-for-humanity1ATLANTA (Feb. 28, 2013) – Habitat for Humanity has elected Brad Hewitt, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans president and CEO; Scot Sellers, Archstone CEO; and Jimmy Masrin, PT Caturkarsa Megatunggal (CM) CEO to its international board of directors.

Additionally, several directors have completed their service and will rotate off the board. Retiring directors include Edward H. Bastian, president of Delta Air Lines; Ted Dosch, CFO of Anixter International; Mary Kazunga, retired coordinator for the Canada Fund; Ken Klein, president of KLEINCO Properties; Anugerah Pekerti, adviser to World Vision International Indonesia; and Edward Schreyer, former Canadian legislator and diplomat.

“We are so blessed to have such exceptional leaders join on our board,” said Jonathan Reckford, Habitat for Humanity International CEO. “We welcome them and would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to our retiring members who have faithfully served and helped guide our ministry.”

Brad Hewitt is president and CEO of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a long-time Habitat for Humanity national partner. He has held leadership positions with Minnesota Mutual Life (now Securian) and several other corporate and Lutheran-affiliated organizations. Hewitt serves as the chair of the board of regents of Concordia University (St. Paul, Minn.) and also serves on the American Council of Life Insurers and Itasca “Mind the Gap” initiative. He is an active participant with Habitat for Humanity, Urban Homeworks, LINC Twin Cities and several other Twin Cities organizations. Hewitt earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and completed the Harvard Graduate School of Business Program for Management Development. A native of Minneapolis, Hewitt lives in Medicine Lake, Minn.

Jimmy Masrin is the president director and CEO of PT Caturkarsa Megatunggal (CM), a family business holding company diversified across several industries. Masrin, who resides in Jakarta, Indonesia, previously was the managing director of PT Lautan Luas, Tbk (LTL). Masrin serves on several boards in companies worldwide and is the chairman of the board for Habitat for Humanity Indonesia. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in international management from The American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird).

Scot Sellers is the former CEO of Archstone, a residential apartment management company. Prior to serving with Archstone, Sellers held senior positions with Security Capital Group Incorporated and Lincoln Property Company. Sellers also serves on the boards of The Howard Hughes Corporation, The Irvine Company, Inspirato LLC, the CEO Forum, Ace Scholarships, Valor Christian High School and Scholar-Leaders International.

Habitat’s 22-member board guides the organization’s efforts to build homes, communities and hope. Each director serves a two-year term that can be renewed up to four times.
