Indie Artist Highlight: Janice Gaines

Janice Gaines is an up and coming singer/songwriter who is here and ready to usher in a new generation of singers with her new single “One Day.”

Janice was raised in Memphis, and she was always surrounded by music and ministry.

She has jokingly said, “It’s just what we did… We sang and we went to church.”  Every church choir that her mother directed, Janice has led the choir in song.  And, she listened intently to each of her father’s sermons.  When she was a teenager, she was the youngest member of O’landa Draper & the Associates.  She also sang in a local group led by her brother, Jon Reddick.

By the time she completed college, Janice had already gained more experience through doing studio session work, appearing in a major motion film, as well as being a professional background vocalist.

It wasn’t until 2009, while working towards her Master of Education (having already obtained a Master of Divinity) that Janice began to consider the possibility that her musical experiences were more than a mere pastime.   It was during this time that she wondered what God really wanted from her.
One, day, prompted by a friend, Janice laid down her own will, and asked about His.  With that simple question, God immediately began opening doors in music for her.  As the doors started to open more and more, Janice immediately stepped into her artistry.  She moved with her husband to Nashville from New York and transitioned from school teacher to full-time singer.

Within months, she joined the worship team of the popular Women of Faith Conference, where she currently leads as many as 12,000 women in worship every weekend in arenas across the country.  Alongside the thousands of attendees, Janice has garnered the support of several gospel heavyweights from Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary, and Donald Lawrence to Natalie Grant, and Mandisa.

Her most profound work was not done on the stage but in Janice’s own heart,“I finally accepted the truth that God’s plans for my life are much better than mine. And the evidence of it was that, once I started to dive into my music, I was more at peace and felt more alive than I had ever been.”

Janice is currently working on her debut album, which features the lead single, “One Day” — a song that showcases her pure tone and pairs it with her passionate message with an unforgettable melody and heartfelt lyrics.  Add that all together and the result is more than just a song—it’s an invitation to music that rests in the hope of an eternal life void of trials, pain or sorrow.

With relatable music and lyrics, and a soaring soprano with range and a rich, clear tone, Gaines is poised to become one of the leading female vocalists in gospel music’s new generation of artists. And with her new found platform, she wants to make clear the simple truth of God’s presence and love for each of His children — “God is with us. He’s with us and He wants us.”

Please join us in supporting Janice as shares God through her real life experiences, and shows her reflection of her walk with Christ as a woman, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend.”
