Based out of Brooklyn, NY Laos in Harmony is a group looking to leave a mark in the gospel music industry.
The group led by musical director Chelton Thorpe — who is also a singer and songwriter. Chelton grew up within a rich musical lineage. He grew up in a rich musical heritage; virtually every member of his family either sings or plays an instrument, which naturally led Chelton to compose and be involved in music from a very young age.
Each member of the group was hand-picked from various Seventh-day Adventist churches; within the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. They were all called to minister the needs of God’s people, and the talents and gifts that God has bestowed upon them are reflected in their lifestyles as ambassadors for Christ; to help save souls.
As a group, they collectively state: “We are young people dedicated to promoting Christian behavior and lifestyle. Our spiritual endeavor is to draw others to Christ through our Ministry. Daily we strive for spiritual growth and guidance and in increased desire to let Jesus be the Lord of our lives.”
The group name Laos is derived from a Greek word meaning “people,” hence the name “Laos in Harmony” (people in harmony).
On January 24, 2012, Laos in Harmony released their much anticipated first single, “The Introduction.” Just like the title suggests, the successful release of “The Introduction” marked the formal debut for the group to the world and the music industry. Not only is debut single inspirational but it also encourages all who hear to share the good news of Jesus Christ to others. And, it also serves as a reminder to those who need to be re-introduced to Christ.
Aside from singing at concerts, Laos in Harmony also has many other ways of ministering to people through several outreach programs which includes Christmas caroling, singles’ mixers, fashion shows, and a train ministry wherein which they sing and pray for the commuters.
The Introduction speaks volumes about their mission to introduce people to Christ. Let’s all support Laos in Harmony, and join them in Introducing more to the love of Jesus Christ.
“We have accepted the command of Jesus in Matthew 28:19, 20 – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
