IMMERSE Announces Scholarship Opportunities, Partnership with National Praise and Worship Institute

IMMERSE logoNashville, TN – IMMERSE, the Gospel Music Association’s Music Training Experience, is pleased to announce two new scholarship opportunities including the “Music Makes” scholarships to attend the upcoming IMMERSE event, and a second that will be awarded to three winners who are registered for the reVIEWyou track.   As the event nears, more artists are being announced as performers and hosts, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for attendees.

 

The Gospel Music Association is accepting applications for their “Music Makes” scholarship program. “Music Makes” is a program focused specifically on individuals who are using music to make a difference in their local communities.  Winners of the scholarship receive free registration to attend IMMERSE 2013, plus VIP access during the event.  Quantities are limited. Atlanta, GA- (February 22, 2012) -The Gospel Music Association (GMA) today announced the 43rd Annual GMA Dove Awards nominees at a press conference held at The Georgian Terrace Hotel in Atlanta, GA, which was streamed live at HearItFirst. Nominees were announced by GRAMMY nominated R&B artist Montell Jordan, known for his iconic hit “This is How We Do It,” BET “Lift Every Voice” host CoCo Brother, Daytime EMMY nominated comedian Chonda Pierce, and World Heavyweight Champion wrestler AJ Styles. GOSPEL MUSIC ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES IMMERSE 2012, July 23-25

NEW VENUE, NEW LOWER RATE AND INCENTIVES, INCLUDING A GMA MEMBERSHIP

Nashville, TN.  December 20, 2011 – IMMERSE, the Gospel Music Association’s Music Training Experience, is pleased to announce the fourth annual event, to be held July 23-25 at Rocketown in Nashville, TN.  An opening night worship event will be held July 22 to kick off IMMERSE and start participants with a time of inspiration and focus.

 

For the first time, all attendees will receive a complementary one-year “iMembership” to the Gospel Music Association which includes the privilege of voting in the annual GMA Dove Awards.  As an added incentive for early registration, anyone who registers for IMMERSE before December 31 of this year will be allowed to vote in the 43rd Annual GMA Dove Awards.

 

Up and coming indie artists, songwriters and future business leaders will all find something to gain from the event which offers unparalleled training, intimate concerts, professional feedback and individual opportunities to connect with music experts.  IMMERSE aims to continue to create a sense of community and camaraderie among the attendees and professionals who seek to spread the Gospel through music.

 

Along with new incentives, IMMERSE will be held at Rocketown in downtown Nashville. Founded by Christian music icon, Michael W. Smith, Rocketown moved into it’s new location earlier this year, creating an environment that both fosters community among the registrants and provides great flexibility for the various production elements unique to the IMMERSE conference.

 

Rates for IMMERSE 2012 begin at just $199 if registration is submitted before March 31, 2012.

 

“It is our desire to provide an atmosphere where creativity, camaraderie and learning can thrive,” says Jackie Patillo, the Executive Director of the Gospel Music Association. “The IMMERSE stage is set to welcome up-and-coming artists and songwriters to share their talents in front of today’s leading music professionals. As well as uncover some of the mysteries of artist development and music industry standards.”

 

Conference speakers, competition judges and live performers will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
Programming will include classes in music business, songwriting and artist development.  As in past years, IMMERSE will offer unprecedented access to some of the most influential and established names in Christian music.

ATLANTA, GA — (April 20, 2011) — The 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards were handed out tonight at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia celebrating Gospel and Christian music’s biggest event. The 42nd Annual GMA Doves Awards hosted by TV host and comedienne Sherri Shepherd will be televised on GMC, America’s favorite network for uplifting entertainment (www.watchgmctv.com), on Sunday, April 24  at 7 p.m. PT.
This is the first year that GMC presented their UPLIFT SOMEONE award, which recognizes individuals who better the world and inspire others to do the same.
The Dove Awards in the overall categories went to:

“GMA Dove Awards represent Gospel and Christian music’s biggest night of the year and tonight’s performances were extraordinary,” said Charley Humbard, President, GMC. “Honoring some of the industry’s most celebrated names in our home town of Atlanta and broadcasting this inspiring event to a nationwide audience reinforces GMC’s commitment to bringing the best in uplifting music and entertainment to our viewers,” he continued.  Multi-award winners tonight are Chris August, Francesca Battistelli, Jason Crabb and Point of Grace pulling down 3 Doves a piece; making them the top award winners for the evening.

This is the second year in a row for Francesca Battistelli to take home Female Vocalist of the Year honors and the first year to be crowned Artist of the Year. She also won Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year. First-time nominee and multi-award winner for Male, New Artist and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year Chris August had quite a night.

The night was full of special collaborations.  Chris Tomlin and the Passion Artists ignited the evening with a Praise and Worship sing-a-long of “Our God”, Third Day’s single “Children of God,” represented hope as Third Day was joined by Mark Hall of Casting Crowns and Steven Curtis Chapman to honor Chapman and his wife Mary Beth’s ministry, SHOW HOPE with the GMC UPLIFT SOMEONE award.  Kenny Rogers and Point of Grace finished with a standing ovation. Other show highlights included all of the Female Vocalist of the Year nominees performing a tribute to the legendary Sandi Patty, the Dove Award’s most honored female singer to date.

Kirk Franklin raised the roof in his inimitable way his high energy closing that rounded out an

evening of performances that ranged from country to hip-hop to contemporary gospel, rock and pop all representing the uplifting message of Gospel and Christian music. All-in-all, the evening played host to many outstanding performances by Jason Crabb and MIKESCHAIR, Natalie Grant and LeCrae, Committed and Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, Mary Mary, Kenny Rogers with Point of Grace and many more. The Dove Awards represent a wide-array of musical styles ranging from Adult Contemporary, Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, Inspirational, Pop, Rap/Hip-Hop, Rock, Spanish Language, Urban and Worship categories. First time host Sherri Shepherd was a standout having the audience in the palm of her hand and clearly enjoyed the musical performances.  This is the first time a non-musical act has hosted the awards show.

Pre-show Highlights:

Rock Recorded Song of the Year was awarded to the rock band RED who was not able to attend this year’s show, but accepted via cell phone.  Backstage generated a lot of excitement mixing Tim Tebow with Greg Jennings and Ruben Studdard with Michelle Williams.  Sandi Patty, who was honored in a tribute with all of the nominees for Female Vocalist of the Year, lit up the room with Natalie Grant and Mary Mary.
