The other day I posted something on Face Book that was truly random yet it could have been perceived as very harsh and not necessarily a good look for the Body of Christ. I received an inbox explaining that very thing and after reading the post again and considering the position of the inbox, although I felt justified, I took it down.
No matter who you are or what title you carry be wise and mature enough to consider others criticism, feelings and opinions. You may discover that someone else can be right too.
If I understand correctly the Pope said something relative to the church having no right to interfere in the lives of gays and lesbians. I absolutely agree. It is the churches obligation to teach, live and practice the spirit and principles of the Bible. This should be done in the loving manner in which Christ ministered while he was here on earth. Why would anyone gay, lesbian, bi, straight, black, white, rich, poor, educated, uneducated, sinner, backslider or any other group you want to label feel a need or conviction about coming into a place where what is supposed to be followed is often disregarded based on how we feel at the moment.
I’m not saying the church is so unstable that we don’t have validity in our convictions. I’m saying we have many areas that we need to work on and in doing so we must take a deep honest look at ourselves and not ignore the areas that we have chosen to embrace, accept or sweep under the rug.
I agree with the Pope. The church’s responsibility is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and not interfere with the lifestyle choices of others. Jesus said “If I be lifted…I’ll draw…”. If there is going to be any interference, it will come from Jesus Christ. Let the church do what it was designed to do and the change (interference) will follow. You and I have no Heaven or Hell to put anyone in. At best all we can do is teach and preach Jesus Christ and strive to live that which we teach and preach.
Have a great day!
I have preached at the Cuyahoga Hills Boys facility every second Sunday for almost 17 years. I’ve never been offered one dime. It’s something I do because its part of the calling on my life.
I believe a lot of young preachers are not prepared or equipped to do effective ministry. Most just patiently wait for their Sunday to preach whenever that may be. The rest look for opportunities to preach like it’s a gig at a club. Then there is the Ecclesiastical Vulture who lurks around waiting for a pastor to die or any church with the big chair vacancy.
The point I’m making is before you attempt to serve as under shepherd practice being a committed servant in the vineyard. There are many opportunities to sharpen your gifts and talents. If being a servant as Christ was a servant is your objective, a pulpit and a fancy podium is not required at all. Stretch your ministry beyond three points and a holla.
This post is rated R. Please don’t read if you are super deep. Went to visit the youngest school today. While speaking with three of his teachers a young man walks right in between us and demands one of the teachers who was a man to let him in the room to get something. After redirecting the student and telling him “No” the young man then goes on to move in the teachers personal space and say “I’ll slap the fuck out of you!”
I immediately explained to the teachers that our meeting was over at this time because I don’t do the unruly children thing and if I stay here a second longer this young man will be picking himself up off the floor.
The kid stood there and didn’t say a word. The teachers bid me a good day and I walked down the hall. Seconds later I could hear the young man starting up with them again.
Professionally I have worked with some of the toughest kids in the state. From kids who have committed murder to sex offenders and your good old-fashioned unruly. I have seen, heard and dealt with some of everything.
This one thing I know!!!! The teachers in these schools are under paid, under appreciated and over worked. I don’t think they could pay me enough to be a teacher. It’s sad. I listen to my wife talk about how not involved the parents are. It’s just sad.
If you know a teacher. You should go out of your way to make a kind gesture to them. They need all and any support and encouragement they can get!
Do we do what we do because we don’t know better? Or do we not do better because we enjoy what we do? There is always room for improvement. There is always room for growth. That long hard look at yourself my not always reveal the image you portray. Be honest with yourself and not afraid to make the necessary changes to make a better you!
Mankind is sick. Our humanity is on life support. The atrocity committed in Syria by Assad although on a grander scale is the equivalent of what goes on around the world, in this country and in our communities. Until we as human beings can learn to respect life and ALL people, care for the well-being of ALL people, we will continue to see the slow and imminent extinction of mankind. This evil which we are on the brink of war about exists on the streets of this country. Chemical war has been launched in our neighborhoods by every drug dealer, meth lab, liquor stores who sell to minors, government and private agencies who knowingly pollute our waters, soils, air and foods.
If we are going to wage war, lets fight for a higher level of moral consciousness and a will to do right by and take better care for one another. If we must fight, let us fight not among ourselves but against the things in the supernatural which influence men to do wrong. If we must fight, let us fight against the adversary of hunger and poverty until it is totally defeated. If we must fight, let us fight with the correct weapons of mass destruction, our prayers, our praise, our worship and ultimately our sacrifice to serve and show love.
I’m ready to fight! Evil should not go unchecked and unrebuked but I doubt we have to go across seas to look for it.
What makes one wealthy? If I asked 10 people that same question, more than likely I would get 10 different answers. There is a treasure on the inside of you. A gold mine waiting to be discovered. An oil well waiting to be tapped. How willing are you to reach beneath the surface to unlock the fortune that is already yours?
Dig a little deeper. Go a little further. Try one more time, then again. What you haven’t realized while you’ve been looking for that big prize. Perhaps what you may not have considered in your quest is that everything you need, God has placed inside of you.
So now the question becomes are you casting on the wrong side? Or are you just in the wrong place all together? I dare not attempt to answer these questions for you. The only place you will really find resolution is going to God in prayer. Ask,seek, knock and it will be revealed to you.
Have a great day!
I am excited and concerned for the young preachers of today. I know the legacy that was left for me by those who preceded me in spreading the Gospel while fulfilling the role of the under Shepard. I learned quickly to chew the meat and spit out the bones. I learned to hear God and not be concerned with the noise of the crowd.
I fear that the meat that many young preachers are eating today is often tainted and not fit for consumption. Tainted with greed, immorality, hidden agendas and lust for power. Tainted with selfishness, opportunistic visions and get rich dreams.
If there is going to be any hope, the up coming generals must return to the original plan of bringing souls to Christ. Teaching, preaching and upholding the principles of the Gospel and not afraid to seek refuge and wise counsel when the battle has delivered major blows or caused them to lose focus.
I see a few who are ready but far more who are merely willing.
The Message (MSG)
14-16 I’m not writing all this as a neighborhood scold just to make you feel rotten. I’m writing as a father to you, my children. I love you and want you to grow up well, not spoiled. There are a lot of people around who can’t wait to tell you what you’ve done wrong, but there aren’t many fathers willing to take the time and effort to help you grow up. It was as Jesus helped me proclaim God’s Message to you that I became your father. I’m not, you know, asking you to do anything I’m not already doing myself.
She’s not just any woman
It’s really plain to see
Her Beauty is deeper than flesh
She’s the Woman God gave to me.
The twinkle in her eyes
The smile on her Lovely face
The epitome of a real woman
Radiant with Gods amazing Grace.
She’s not just any woman
Her Love keeps me alive
Her touch stimulates my body
Her words stimulate my soul and my mind
My journey with some other woman
Could not have been complete
This Love with each year grows stronger
New adventures yet to see.
If I had to sum her all up.
Of course the answer would be
She’s not just any woman
She’s the woman God gave to me!
Open your mouth…Listen
There is a sound that is often imitated but never duplicated. It’s the sound of the rushing mighty wind. It’s the sound of Deliverance. The sound of Freedom and liberation. Many have tried to mute it. Circumstances have tried to kill it. It is inside of you and waiting to be heard. Release it and see what it returns.
It’s your praise that draws the creator near. It’s your praise that is pleasing to His ear. Praise Him with the timbrel and the dance. Praise Him while time gives you the chance. Praise Him now for mercies which are new. Open your mouth!
Or simply stay the way you are and do nothing, the choice is up to you.
