We all have a calling in this life, and no not everyone is going to be married or have children. We are not promised any certain role on this earth, but what we can remember is that we all will fill a very valuable place in the lives of those God puts in our paths, such as Naomi in the book of Ruth. Naomi did not understand that she was not promised to keep the role of mother or wife. But God didn’t leave her without, she had her daughter in law Ruth and was a great influence to this young woman. There are other biblical examples, like Mordecai who had taken his cousin Esther and raised her as his own after her mother and father died, and we know what a blessing he was in her life. Then there’s Terah, who cared for Lot his grandson, then Abram took over when he left Haran to go where God was leading him.

Relationships don’t just apply to children needing an adult, but also to other adults. The widow’s cried over Dorcas a woman who was known for her good works and alms deeds. This woman had touch these women’s lives to the point that Peter prayed and brought her back from death. I could go on and on but I hope that you will see that there is a need for you in someone’s life and that God has a plan and a place for you in the lives of his children. Don’t be discouraged because you don’t have the role you thought that you would have, but as 1 Corinthians 7 says in verse 17  Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God called him and be blessed and be a blessing!
