Maureen felt herself falling deeper into depression each day. She went to the doctors, but the antidepressants didn’t work. She knew the battle was in her mind. Every morning, she told herself, “God made me and loves me. He cares for me and answers my prayers.” No matter how bad she felt, she told herself these basic truths. Eventually her thinking became less negative and she moved forward with her life.
Know that the Lord, he is God!…We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Psalm 100:3
The Bible says, “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God.” (I John 3:1) It declares, “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11) It encourages you to cast “all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (I Peter 5:7)

If your life seems to be getting out of hand, read these scriptures and similar ones as faithfully as you would take prescribed pills. Then pray that the people of this nation will hear His voice and entrust themselves to the Heavenly Father’s care.
