Jesus is the Centerpiece of Our Faith!

Monday, September 6th, 2010

So, my dear Christian friends, companion in following this call to the heights…take a good look at Jesus. He’s the Centerpiece of everything we believe, faithful in everything God gave him to do.  Moses was also faithful, but Jesus gets far more honor.  A builder is more valuable than a building any day.  Every house has a builder, but the Builder behind them all is God.  Moses did a good job in God’s house, but it was all servant work, getting things ready for what was to come.  Christ as Son is in charge of the house.  (Hebrews 3: 1-6)

Beloved, these scriptures truly resonated with me, because we say that we are Christian (Christ-like), we say we are god-fearing, and that Christ Jesus is the head of our life; and all this and more is exactly what our thinking should be. But how many of us have had a hard time holding on to our confession, when the testing comes?  How many of us realized that before God can entrust us with His plan for our lives (his purpose), we would have to show ourselves approved before God.   We will have to endure hardship as a faithful soldier of God’s Army.  Think it not strange when you find yourself going through a wilderness testing. The Word says if we can only keep a firm grip on this bold confidence (that Christ as Son is in charge of the house). (Hebrews 3:6)

Beloved, we are the houses!  That is why the Holy Spirit says; today; please don’t turn a deaf ear as in “The bitter uprising,” that time of wilderness testing. (Hebrews 3:7).  The Word says to take a good look at Jesus.  What does the bible tell us about Christ during those 30 years prior to His ministry. In Luke1: 80; 2:52 it says, “And the little boy grew and became strong in spirit; and he was in the deserts (wilderness) until the day of his appearing to Israel {the commencement of his public ministry}. And Jesus increased in wisdom (in broad and full understanding) and in stature and years, and in favor with God and man.  Therefore beloved, if it took Jesus 30 years to prepared for His 3 years ministry; we must get out of the instant society mindset, that is, God will instantly grant us our ministry, without doing it his way, “without preparation”.

Beloved, do not be amazed and bewildered at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test your quality, as though something strange (unusual and alien to you and your position) were befalling you.  {Therefore beware} brethren, take, care, lest there be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart {which refuses to cleave to, trust in, and rely on Him}, leading you to turn away and desert or stand aloof from the living God.  But instead warn (admonish, urge, and encourage) one another every day, as long as it is called Today, that none of you may be hardened {into settled rebellion} by the deceitfulness of sin {by the fraudulence, the stratagem, the trickery which the delusive glamour of his sin may play on him}.

Therefore, Beloved, humble yourself “under the might hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you.”

Destiny’s Child

Photo of Nikki WashingtonRomans 8:29-30, “For whom He fore knew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”

If you read the scripture text above, I’m sure you read what I read. The writer was speaking to the Romans about destiny amongst other things.

In essence he’s reminding the people that not only did God know us before we were ever birthed, but He PRE-destined us that we might ultimately, conform to the imagine of Christ and subsequently, bring Him glory. I share this scripture with you tonight as a form of encouragement. I think too often we get so caught up in looking at who we are and our own abilities that we forget that little factor called destiny (smile). And the above scripture reminds us that before we ever came to be, God had ALREADY predetermined some things about us.

Now isn’t that good news? It should be! Think about it, God knew every single place we’d ever fall short, yet STILL ascribed greatness to our lives. In other words, He already knew you’d feel ill-equipped but He gave you the vision anyway. He already saw that you’d record that album yet have to grind to find a distribution deal, yet He told you to do it anyway. And long before you could ever even string together a proper sentence, He knew that He would send you out to declare His Word to the nations! So, here’s the thing, if God knows this about us, what’s stopping us from grasping this fact? Exactly. NOTHING! So, to you on the cusp of greatness, be encouraged!

Don’t let what it looks like detour you from what He has ALREADY declared it to be. Remember, God’s PRE-determined plan is that you might live out your destiny. Yeah, it’s just like Jeremiah said (29:11). God wants to give us hope and a future and good success. He wants us to manifest destiny. And this is the season where your obedience and diligence will bring forth the manifestation of a future that ALREADY is.

 This is your moment church!

What will you do with it?

Let’s GO!

Let Polluting Speech Be Banished From You

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Let no foul or polluting language nor evil unwholesome or worthless talk {ever} come out of your mouth, but only such {speech} is as good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God {do not offend or vex or sadden Him}, by Whom you sealed {marked, branded as God’s own, secures} for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin).

Let all bitter and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind). Ephesians 4:29-31

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.  Many Christians would not be caught using profanity.  But how many of us know that complaining is a sin.  Say help me Lord, you too?  Well it is, complaining opens many doors for the enemy to enter in (read Job 7:11, 10:1-7, 40: 1-5).   Words are container of  Power (Matthews 21:21) ; therefore complaining and grumbling words carry corruptible power. Ephesians 4: 29 says, “Let not corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification (building up) that it may impact grace to the hearers.

Beloved, when we complain about our situations, it hinders God from releasing His blessings upon us and others whom we corrupt with our disobedience and we don’t get the deliverance from our circumstances that God had prepared for us, therefore we remain in our situation.

Beloved, know that God desires to touch our mouths and have us for His mouthpiece.  All of us at some point have to come to the realization that without God’s cleaning power, we all are people of unclean lips. I believe Isaiah says it best in( Isaiah 6: 5a), ” woe is me, for I am undone!  because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips.”

What should we do when we find ourselves complaining about our unfavorable circumstances?  May I be humble and say, Let us praise ourselves out of our situations.  I will be sharing more about this subject in my next blog.

Get a “Christian Attitude” Towards Great Affliction

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Confirm the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith and that we must through much tribulation enter into the Kingdom of God. (Acts 14:22)

Beloved, even as children of the Almighty God, the Bible teaches us that in this present world, we will and should expect to endure trials and tribulations, hardships, afflictions; but Jesus said we are to be of good courage because He has overcome the cares of this world for us.  The Apostle Paul writes that we are to count these things as light afflictions; when the cross comes into our view and we are to  consider the Christ, which is our hope of Glory! (II Cor. 4:17).

More over, Beloved {let us also be full of joy now!} let us exault and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings. Knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produces patient and unswerving endurance.

And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity),  And character {of this sort} produces {the habit of} joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.

Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shame us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.  Who has been given to us.

Beloved, even in the midst of our suffering we are over-comers in Christ Jesus.   We are asked in the scriptures, ” who shall separate us from Christ’s love?  Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation?   Or calamity and distress?  Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword?  Inspite of all these things beloved,  yet the word teaches us that we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him who loved us.

Beloved, it is during great tribulation that our attitude should be that of dependency on God, trusting Him completely, surrendered  to Him in totally loyalty, for after all, it is He who made us, and not us ourselves.  We belong to Him, he said we are the sheep of His pasture.  I just know that God is more than able to take care of His children, ad I know  that He will do it.

For I am persuaded beyond doubt (I am sure of it) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, nor height or depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the Love of God which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord. Amen!

Sister Betty, In Him, I am more than a conqueror.

Father God, please circumcise our hearts and teach us how to love you more, just like your angels in heaven, with all our heart, strength, soul, and our being.  Father, grant us the confidence in you, to have faith that you accept us with all our imperfections as you continue to work on conforming  us into the likeness of your Son, Jesus, our beloved Lord and Savior.  In Jesus’ Awesome Name! Amen.

The Infallible Word Of God: Part 4

Part IV:  The Word (Christ) Made Flesh

In the beginning {before all time} was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself, {Isa 9:6} (John1:1).

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  (John 1:14).

Do you know of anyone today that struggles with believing the Word, the  Holy Scriptures, to be the infallible of Word of God?  Jesus certainly encountered such unbelief during His ministry.

Jesus said to them (that did not believe), You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the scriptures. Then (Jesus) beginning with Moses and {throughout} all the Prophets, He went on explaining and interpreting to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning and referring to Himself.   Then He (Jesus) said to them, This is what I told you while I was still with you; everything which is written concerning Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.

Then He {Jesus} thoroughly opened up their minds to understand the Scriptures.  He said to them, Thus it is written that the Christ (the Messiah) should suffer and on the third day rise from (among) the dead, {Hos.  6:2}.  And that repentance {with a view to and as the condition of} forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

How many know that we are to preach this Gospel in the name of Jesus?  And do not concern ourselves with engaging in arguments or debates over foolish questions, such as “if man wrote the Gospel by the inspiration of God,  how do we know that man did not add to it?”.  But we know we are to study to show ourselves approved before God, and teach the Gospel in the name of Jesus and pray that God will open up the minds of the hearer of His Word to understand the Scriptures.

The Infallible Word of God Series: Part 3

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Part III “The Word of God Is Full Of Power”: Choose to use it for yourself!

Beloved, the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power {making it active, operative, energizing and effective}; it is sharper than any two edge sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and {the immortal} spirit, and of joints and marrow {of the deepest parts of our nature}. exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the the hear.

Beloved, if we can trust God and believe the Word that He speaks is full of power, then what do you suppose would happen if (for each trial, care of this life, for each need, and for each sickness) we would go to the Infallible Word of God–seeking and finding scriptures that speak specifically to our situation?

What if we prayed that Word over our situation, if we meditated day and night on that Word, if we believe and trusted in that Word as the God given, answer for our circumstance(s)? What if we  have taken on the righteousness of God, and through grace we have met the conditions of  God’s promises?  What if God be for us?  Then what or who can prevent the Word that God speaks from manifesting it full power in our lives?

Jesus said, ” It is written that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.”  He (Jesus) said, blessed (happy and to be envied) rather are those who hear the Word of God and practice it!  I would love to hear your thoughts. You can reply directly to this blog or follow us on Facebook.

Reference Scriptures: Heb 4:12, Matt. 4:4, Luke 11:28

Father God, help us to receive the power of Your Word.  Help us not to be just hearers of  Your word, but also help us to practice it!  Please deliver us from the cares of this present world and please give us the desire to renew our minds in Your Word.  Please Father God give us a hunger and thirst after You.   I know Father that Your Word is truth and it is able to far exceed, above and beyond what we ask and hope for; so please God, let Your Word have its way in our circumstances.   Father, let the words of our mouth be the words that You speak and let the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in Your sight, oh Lord, our Saver and Redeemer.  In Jesus’ Awesome Name. Amen

The Power of The Gospel Series: Part I of Eight Articles

I am not ashamed of the Gospel (The Holy Scriptures, the good news) of Christ. For it is God’s Power working unto salvation {for deliverance from eternal death} to everyone who believes with a personal trust and confidence surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (Roman 1:16)

For in the Gospel a righteousness, which God ascribes, is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith {disclosed through the way of faith that arouses to more faith}.  As it is written, the man who through faith is just and upright shall live and shall live by faith.  (Roman 1:17, Hab. 2:4)

Beloved, the scriptures above teaches us to have faith in God and the good new of Jesus Christ.  I invite you to go on a faith exploration with me to search the Holy Bible in this series of articles for the expressed purpose of being reminded just how infallible, powerful, alive, and active, the Holy Scriptures really are.

It is my desire to stir you up and ignite a burning desire in the depth of your soul, that we will come into a place of faith in God, that it will become an automatic response to turn to God and His Word, during times of hardship, trials of sickness, lack of resources, jobs, {what ever the situation!}.

I am hopeful that the Holy Scriptures will be put into action in addressing these cares and trials of this life, those that so often overcome us and causes us at times to try everything and seek out everyone {But God!}; not fully understanding, that the {But God!} changes every situation and works it out for our good.

I am prayerful (after we have completed our Series on the Holy Scriptures), and  I am believing God to reveal that the Bible is truly the Holy undisputed Word from God to man, whose express purpose is to save man from the penalty of his sin and to restore him back unto the right relation with Him.

I am God-confident that we will come into an agreement that we must stop (cease, reframe) immediately from treating The Holy Bible like common literature; to be read at our convenience; even when we read it, at times we are guilty in reading it in unbelief; because we do not fully believe that it has the power to transform {change} our circumstances or we lack the faith to believe that God is is true.  Perhaps at times, we find ourselves limiting God’s power because we feel powerless to change our own situation. Then Jesus said to them, “You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the scriptures.”

Beloved, the Word of God says, ” For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and attributes, that is His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks).  So {men} are without excuse {altogether without any defense or justification}.”  {Roman 1:20, PS. 19:1-4}. Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks.  But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking {with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations} and their senseless minds were darkened.   Claiming to be wise, they became fools {professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves).  {Roman 1:21-22)

Father-God, have mercy on us, help our unbelief, if any of us be found in unbelief in accepting Your Holy Word, and doubting Your promises or doubting You are who You say You are.  Please open our eyes, heart, and mind to get and understanding of your Holy Word, for in Your Word, we find Jesus, for in Your Word, is the promise of eternal life, salvation and gift of Holy Spirit, healing, provision, the promise of the new Jerusalem, (Rev. 221-21). Please forgive us if we failed to thank you for our daily bread, loved ones and every good and perfect gift.  Lord thank you for Your Holy Scriptures, your instructions before leaving this earth.  In Jesus’ Awesome Name.  Amen

Don’t Forget Your REAL Audience

Monday, August 17th, 2009

It happens all the time. History continues to repeat itself. I sometimes sit back and say to myself, “How in the heaven did that happen?” when I read and see what is making news all over the world. I say to myself how did they let it get this far? Why can’t they see who has really been there for them? Why bite the hand that has fed you for so long?  Sometimes when a person makes it big they think that it happened because of their talent. I think it happened because of God, their talent and people’s recognition of their gift. Here’s the problem: They give God the credit and they give themselves a pat on the back, but FORGET who purchased, downloaded, referred to their friends, bought tickets, tuned into the radio or TV station…..yada-yada-yada…..I think you guys get the point. I tell people all the time that without those people that will BUY into your services, You’re NOTHING! Why do you think Chris Brown is on YouTube giving video taped apologies? Why is Michael Vick on ” 60 Minutes crying ?” It’s because they are beginning to recognize that in all actuality, it was people who padded their pockets and made them famous.  Here are two principles to live by for the rest of your life:

“Why do you think Chris Brown is on YouTube giving video taped apologies? Why is Michael Vick on ” 60 Minutes crying ?”"

1] Recognize the people that are “connectors” in your life!  This is your management, your distributor, your producers, your publicist and etc…Their job is to get you noticed and to connect you to those that can give you more of a platform and help in branding your unique offering to the world. They will NEVER buy one thing from you. They actually RECEIVE monies that you earn while swimming in the pool of “fame” that they build for you. Don’t get it twisted!

2] Recognize the people that actually BUY from you! These are the guys and gals that you have to keep happy. They spend their hard earned dollars so that you can earn some hard earned dollars. They show up at your events. They buy your CD’s, your posters, and your t-shirts. They download your music or your art. They tell their friends and family about what a great time they had @ your event. Never FORGET them because they will FORGET you and then you could find yourself singin’  and practicin’ in the mirror by your lonesome again.

*These are two distinct and different categories of people and it’s wise to never get them twisted. The second group will always let you know when you’re getting the job done and the first one will always be subject to the second one.
